Nick Bockwinkel vs Curt Hennig Showboat bloody match AWA

Source:AWA Wrestling– Curt Hennig vs Nick Bockinkel in a bloody hell.

“Nick Bockwinkel vs Curt Hennig Showboat bloody match AWA. The last 8 minutes of the 1 hour match that was on TV, both had the crimson mask.”

From Strad

Curt Hennig and Nick Bockwinkel, two of the best pound for pound pro wrestlers of all-time. I first got into AWA pro wrestling around 1987 or 88 when my parents finally got cable TV in the house. Curt Hennig was part of the World Wrestling Federation at that point. But Nick Bockwinkel the Ric Flair of the AWA, All Star Wrestling Association was still wrestling and winning championships in his early fifties at this point. And you can tell just by looking at him that he was in great shape. Still wrestling at two-hundred-fifty pounds of so and most of that being muscle.

Curt Hennig had his career cut somewhat short dying in the late 1990s or early 2000s, but someone who could do anything in the wrestling ring. He got bigger when he went into the WWF and WCW and wrestled at about two-fifty pounds or so, up from two-hundred thirty-five pounds from when he was in the AWA. But he was a classical wrestler who also had great athletic ability, strength and pure wrestling knowledge and intelligence. That made him a world champion several times.

CFL 1994 SACRAMENTO GOLDMINERS AT WINNIPEG BLUEBOMBERS

“CFL 1994 SACRAMENTO GOLDMINERS AT WINNIPEG BLUEBOMBERS”

David Archer the American pro football quarterback, was the QB for the Sacramento Gold Miners when they were in the CFL and then QB the San Antonio Texans in the CFL in 1995. He had opportunities in the NFL and was even drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in 1985, the Washington Redskins picked him up in the late 1980s and I believe he believed played for the Philadelphia Eagles.

Other than his brief stint with the Redskins where he was the 3rd string QB, I don’t think you can say he ever had a real shot to make it in the NFL with a good team. When he did play, he was always playing for teams that were struggling. But he did have good size, mobility, and a strong arm, and had success in the CFL playing for good teams like the Gold Miners and Texans.

Reggie Slack was a good quarterback for the Auburn Tigers in Southeastern Athletic Conference, who played for Pat Dye who had a lot of success at Auburn. But Slack never made it in the NFL, but one of the advantages of a league like the CFL is that they want the best football players that they can get, at least to a certain extent, because they do have quotas on how many foreign players they will allow each club to have. This all means that if you are a good talented pro football player in America and you don’t make it in the NFL, there’s probably a CFL club that will give you a look.

The Blue Bombers playing on grass with Dieter Brock as their QB. Dieter Brock was a very successful American QB in the CFL, with a big arm, who was very accurate. But somehow never caught on with an NFL club until the Los Angeles Rams signed him in 1985 when he was already in the 30s. But he could throw the football and you put him on a NFL club with a good passing game and offensive line, Dieter would’ve probably been successful in the NFL.
