“Falta muy poco para el momento que estabas esperando: el #DanyIntimo da el gran salto de internet a la televisión, y no te lo puedes perder:Google Mientras tanto, disfruta un adelanto exclusivo con lo mejor de Danielle Colby.”

From History

To be completely honest with you for a minute, ( and after that anything can happen ) I only watch American Pickers because of Danielle Colby Cushman. I’m a big fan of history and I’m very interested in it and read a lot about it and watch a lot of docs about it, I’m just not a collector when it comes to history other than DVD’s and books.

The show is fairly entertaining and to see how hard these people in Iowa work and how far they travel to keep their business going. Both Mike and Frank bring a lot of knowledge, hard work, and humor to their jobs. And I kind of like Frank Fritz reminds me a lot of the TV PI Frank Cannon from back in the 70s both in personality and appearance. And Mike Wolfe, reminds me a lot of the former NFL head coach Mike Shananhan physically. But Danielle, is the main event and main reason for me to watch this show, I just wish she had a bigger role and more airtime.

Danielle C. Cushman, ( or perhaps Danielle Colby at this point ) is so cute, so sexy, pretty funny, and just a pleasure to check out on the show. Every time Mike or Frank bring her on one of their trips to actually work with them, the guys they visit in order to buy historical items the men they encounter and are doing business with automatically like her and want to be around her. I believe just her presence alone brings in action and money for their business. And it’s just not just her physical appearance and personality that people like about her on the show, she also knows what she’s talking about and isn’t some bimbo along for the ride like you might see on a game show or talk show. She’s a professional collector as well which is why Mike and Frank hired her.

Not that History Channel and American Pickers listens to me anyway, but if they want me to watch this show more and perhaps guys who aren’t let’s say junkies ( pun intended ) when it comes to historical collections to watch their show more, give Danielle Colby a bigger role on the show. Instead of just getting a few minutes each week or however often the show is seeing her at the office answering the phone and then calling Mike and Frank in their truck on the road to tell them about a new potential customer for them. Put her on the road more and let’s see her doing some actual collecting herself.

I’m not a big fan of History Channel’s American Pickers. But I am a big fan of Danielle Colby Cushman on American Pickers, who is way underused on the show. And basically treated by Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz who own American Pickers, as a little girl who can’t handle big responsibility. Danielle might be as cute as a little girl physically, but she’s clearly a grown up, at least physically who can do more than just answer the phone and try to bring in new perspective clients for the business.

American Pickers is a real life business owned by these two guys, somewhere in Iowa, which could be said about a lot of towns in Iowa. Who find old pieces that people have had forever that still have value. And they try to buy them a fair price and then try to sell them for profit. The guys do most of the traveling and picking, why cute Danielle stays at home ( so to speak ) answers the phone and try’s to find perspective clients and people who Mike and Frank can work with.

But the few opportunities that Danielle gets to hit the road, you not only get to see her knowledge for the business. Which granted is not as deep as Mike’s or Frank’s, but she has also hasn’t been doing it as long. But you get to see her personality, her humor, how adorable she is physically and personally. And last, but certainly not least, her great body. Tall, curvy, athletically built woman, who fills out a pair of Levis denim jeans well enough to get her a modeling contract for Levis.

This might be putting it simplistically, but Jimmy Carter’s presidency and the late 1970s might be able to be summed up in what was dubbed as his malaise speech. Even though it was a hell of a lot more complicated than that. Despite President Carter’s brilliant ability to examine issues and problems, this speech however you want to define it, sounded like a lecture on what was wrong with the American people.

Seeming to blame the problems that the country was facing on themselves. That what the center of our problems, the reason for our economic problems was materialism that we wanted too much. Instead of the fact that it’s not that the country wanted too much. But the fact that a lot of middle class Americans and low-income people were fighting just to survive, to make ends meet. Which was very difficult because of the high unemployment, high interest rates, high inflation and the energy shortage.

The bad economy was the center of America’s problems and that was bad enough. And then throw in the foreign policy issues of late 1978 into 1979 and 1980, with the Monarchy in Iran collapsing in early 79, the Iran hostage crisis of November, 1979, where Americans at our Embassy in Tehran were taken hostage and held for fourteen months, with Russia invading Afghanistan in 1980. It was a lot on any President’s plate, even for a President as intelligent as Jimmy Carter.

I’ve said this before, but Jimmy Carter as President had a brilliant ability to examine issues for what they were for and understand them. But lacked the ability to figure out how to solve the problems. The economic crisis on 1978-90 and the malaise speech is a perfect example of this. He knew what the issues of the bad economy of that era were, but didn’t have a prescription to fix the problems.

He saw the economic crisis as something to do with the budget deficit. Even though compared with GDP the deficit was very small back then. Thanks to President Nixon, Ford and yes Carter limiting federal spending. The main issues with the economic crisis had to with high unemployment, high interest rates and high inflation. And the way to solve economic problems is putting people back to work, even if that means running a short-term deficit. Or increasing the deficit, because once you establish solid job growth, you get the economy running again and you can address whatever budget deficit you had run up.

President Carter not only miss-diagnosed the economic crisis from a policy point of view, but from a political point of view. Because with a decent economy, President Carter gets reelected. I believe even with the hostage crisis, because President Carter actually scored decent ratings for the way he handled that situation. That election still would’ve been close I believe. But if he handled the economy properly, President Carter gets reelected and Ronald Reagan perhaps never becomes President of the United States.
